9. Google APIs and Google Calendar / Google Meet Integration (Techmawu LMS)
This section applies to Techmawu LMS by Techmawu Solutions when an instructor or administrator chooses to connect a Google account to use the live class feature.
Google user data we access
When a user connects Google Calendar, Techmawu LMS requests access to the following Google data and permissions: openid, email, and https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events.owned. Through this connection, we may access the user’s Google account email address, Google account identifier, OAuth authorization tokens, granted scopes, and the Google Calendar event data required to create and manage live class events, including event title, description, start time, end time, event ID, event link, calendar ID, and Google Meet link.
How we use Google user data
We use this Google user data only to provide the Google Calendar and Google Meet live class functionality inside Techmawu LMS. Specifically, we use it to:
- verify which Google account is connected;
- maintain the user’s Google Calendar connection;
- create Google Calendar events with Google Meet links for LMS live classes on the connected user’s own calendar;
- display the connected Google account email address inside the LMS;
- store the resulting event metadata in the LMS so the live class can be shown and managed inside the course.
How we share Google user data
We do not sell Google user data. We do not use Google user data for advertising, marketing profiling, or AI/ML model training. We share Google user data only as needed to provide the live class feature, including sending the relevant event details to Google Calendar to create the event and making the resulting live class details and Google Meet join link available to enrolled students in the relevant course. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our legal rights and security.
Storage, protection, retention, and deletion
OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored in encrypted form while the Google Calendar connection is active. We also store related connection metadata such as the connected Google email address, Google account identifier, granted scopes, token expiry, and last-used timestamps. When a user disconnects Google Calendar from Techmawu LMS, we revoke the Google connection and clear stored OAuth tokens from the active connection record. We may retain limited operational logs and live class records, including event IDs, meeting links, timestamps, and course records, for security, troubleshooting, audit, administrative, or educational recordkeeping purposes, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
User choice and revocation
Connecting Google Calendar is optional. Users may disconnect the integration at any time from the LMS, and they may also revoke Techmawu LMS access from their Google account permissions page.
